Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate VAT from a total price?
To extract VAT from an inclusive price: divide the total by 1.05 to get the net amount, then subtract. For example: AED 1,050 / 1.05 = AED 1,000 (net) and AED 50 (VAT). Use the "Extract VAT" mode above for instant calculation.
Do tourists get VAT refunds in UAE?
Yes. Tourists can claim VAT refunds on eligible purchases of AED 250+ per transaction through the Tax Refund for Tourists Scheme operated by Planet. Refunds are processed at designated points in airports.
Is rent subject to VAT in UAE?
Residential property rent is exempt from VAT. Commercial property rent is subject to 5% VAT. Hotel accommodation is taxable at 5% VAT plus tourism fees.
